Rev. Lauren Clawson

Hello, Gay Street United Methodist!  My name is Lauren Clawson and I am honored to be chosen to serve as your Minister of Discipleship! I am a native of Pennsylvania. Most recently, I served in a church in Loveland, Colorado. Before I go any farther, I need to let you know I am not a Penn State nor a Pitt fan -  so am perfectly available to become an Ohio State fan!

I am a Deacon in the United Methodist church. A Deacon is a parallel track of ordination with that of Rev. Karen, who serves as an Elder. A Deacon takes vows of sharing the good news through teaching and preaching (at the Elder’s discretion); serving alongside the Elder in worship; leading, training, guiding, and equipping congregations for service in their particular ministries (inside and outside the church); to be a bridge between the church and the world; finally, to be a representative example of Christ’s love in word and action. I have been a Deacon since 2010 after 15 years of experience in churches in North Carolina and Georgia.

My position as Minister of Discipleship encompasses serving with Rev. Karen in worship and equipping the church to serve in their ministries. Most importantly, this includes creating a plan which will help us all - children, youth, and adults - grow as more loving and committed followers of Jesus Christ.
