GSUMC Coronavirus prevention steps: Many have asked about our response to the COVID19 epidemic. Changes have been happening daily, and this week each day is full of both information and questions. Here at Gay Street, we will be guided by recommendations from the CDC, the WHO, local and state departments of health, and our Bishop and conference. Our task is to love one another! And so, here are our guidelines for being well and healthy at this time.
1. We will continue to have regular Sunday morning worship.
a. Use your judgment about attending; you know your vulnerabilities.
b. Do not attend if you are sick or have been in contact with someone who is.
c. We will limit contact in things like greeting times.
d. We will adjust how we serve communion.
e. We encourage you to wash your hands when you arrive, take advantage of sanitizer, and additional tissues in pews.
f. Limit skin contact with high-touch areas on doors, railings, etc.
g. We are making additional paper handouts of music if you do not want to handle hymnals.
h. We will not be passing the offering plate. A drop off spot will be designated for your offering.
2. Rev. Karen will continue to be in consultation with church staff, volunteers and leaders about additional activities, classes, programs, etc.
3. We will continue to serve the Friday meal at this time, with some adjustments.
We will be finding ways to support and stay in contact with those in nursing homes or isolated at home.
