The United
Methodist Women pledged $250 a quarter this year to Interchurch Social
Services. Angie Richards, our treasurer, has taken that amount and will buy the
needed foods. There will be no UMW meetings in July and August.

Rummage
Sale Report
Thank you to
all in the church family who helped make this year's rummage sale a tremendous
success!! Thanks to all the people who donated baked goods or rummage sale
items and the people who set up and worked at the sale. We were able to generate
our second highest sales in the last five years. The Bake sale made $268.14 and
the Rummage Sale total was $982.09 for a total profit of $1,250.23! This money
goes toward our numerous mission projects both here in Mt. Vernon, but also in
other areas in Ohio, the United States and the world
Many people ask what we do with everything we have left. We ask representatives
of the following groups to come in on Thursday afternoon to take things that
their organization could use:F.U.F.F., Foster grandparents at the Mount Vernon
Developmental Center, Central Church of Christ Children's Program, Mt. Vernon
Players, and Danville Interchurch. This year we also gave things to Kelly
Gardner for a garage sale she is having. The money will go for expenses they
have in adopting a little boy from China. Anything left after those groups came
in was boxed up and Frank Austin came in to pick it up. Their church has a
storage facility where they sort and organize things and they are then taken to
various shelters or to those suffering from a disaster. As you can see, we try
to make sure everything that is donated finds it's way to someone who can use
it!

Agape Meals
The United Methodist Women serve meals after funerals and memorial
services held at the church. Last year twelve meals were served. Norma
Siekkinen and Peg McCracken coordinate the volunteers, donations of food and
buying of supplies. This is an outreach of the UMW that is done with love to
give families and friends some informal time together at a difficult time.
