Jennifer Allar

Nursery Supervisor

"Born to love horses," she had no choice, that is how Jennifer describes her love affair with equine! Her entire life has been centered around her love of God’s creatures.

During her formative growing-up years she was in 4-H...or should I say she lived and breathed 4-H because it was another avenue for her to trek where she could be with her beloved horses. Jennifer won multiple state championships with her skills and talent with horses. She was even the Franklin County 4-H Queen!

Jennifer graduated from Otterbein College with a major in Psychology and minors in English and Communications. She also completed an Independent Concentration Study on Animal Learning & Behavior. The employment positions she sought after graduation were ones that had hours conducive to her other passion - dog trainer. Later, she worked for five years at the Humane Society with the K-9 placement program. Most folks only last an average of eighteen months because it is so emotionally draining rescuing canines. It was rewarding but very tasking on the heart. She never wants to do that again.

Jennifer met her husband, Ken Allar (Carolyn Allar’s son) after she graduated from college. Together they found their dream house outside Gambier...though she says the house is a life-long project. With eight acres to support her "love of all-God’s- creaturehabit" she has her own little piece of Heaven on earth. She has six horses...or should I say six little pieces of her heart on four hoofs...roaming the Allar Acres, along with three dogs, forty-seven chickens, a couple of cocky roosters and one old cranky barn cat.

Their son, Will, has his own little Shetland pony, Mia, to ride and work with. Having his mom as a mentor to show him the "ropes" around horses is a true asset for Will.

Gay Street UMC families have been blessed for seven years to have Jennifer’s friendly face, caring heart and open arms waiting on Sunday mornings when they arrive at the nursery to deposit their precious babes into her care.

Parents and grandparents are confident that their babies and toddlers are in good hands in Jennifer’s care.

Perhaps we’ll be blessed seven times seven and have Jennifer for years to come to nurture and care for our children.

Jennifer’s love of life is evident from the moment you first meet her. She pretty much glows from within as she embraces each glorious day God has given her.

Jennifer finds her peace on earth, on her piece of earth, as she wraps God’s creation of nature and critters around her in a warm cloak of love.
