Children's Christian Education
When?
Children@CrossRoads is a Bible-based Christian education program offered every Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Exception: When the 8:30 service and the 10:45 service are combined into a single service, there is no Children@CrossRoads.
Who?
Children@CrossRoads is for children ages 3 through fourth grade. Younger infants and toddlers may go to the nursery on the second floor where two attendants will care for them. While Children@CrossRoads is in session, middle school, high school, and adults attend their own classes.
Children's Music Ministries
The children's music ministry of Gay Street United Methodist Church enables the children of the church to share their talents with their church family and sing to the glory of God. The Rainbow Singers (4yrs, kindergarten, & 1st grade) and the Sunbeam Choir (2nd through 5th grades) participate in worship each month during the school year. In addition to monthly responsibilities, the children present a special Christmas service and are responsible for leading the congregation in our annual "Children's Day" service the first Sunday of May.
Camping Opportunities
Registration for the 2010 summer camping season will open in the spring of 2010. Please remember that the church will pay for one half of the registration fee if you so choose. For more information about the various camp sites, a camp video, and answers to almost any question you can imagine, visit the web site for East Ohio UMC camps by clicking here.
Camping a Happy Experience for Two Ornery Boys
Last year Levi Rhoades and Nick Tier went to Camp Aldersgate for a five night camp called "Just Camp." They were bunk mates and shared a cabin with eight boys and their counselor. The counselor was a seminary student from Wales, so the boys thought it was cool that he had a "Harry Potter" accent.
They did many great activities like hiking, swimming and canoeing. They played games, sang songs, and had Bible studies each day. They spent one night under the stars in the woods and making their own food on the fire.
5th and 6th Grade Class
This class meets with a variety of leaders throughout the school year to do book studies, explore their faith life as they enter into the Middle School experience. Last year this group participated in mission projects – including building bird houses to raise funds for the new roof, saw "Chronicles of Narnia, the Voyage of the Dawn Treader" together and led the church in thanking their teachers, among many other things. They meet in Room 301 on Sunday mornings.
